Between The Universes is the second album from German symphonic prog act Tritonus. I’ve been loosely familiar with this album for ages, but do not know their first one at all so can’t speak much to the evolution of the band, but this is a very cool bit of music. There was definitely a sonic shift in production around ‘76 and this record really highlights what that means. The production is lush and thick, which absolutely suits the sound that Tritonus is delivering. Soft in its intent, yet thick and heavy overall. Gentle, yet expansive, and armed with an edge if it needs it. It takes a few spins for this one to sink in, but it’s certainly an excellent album despite my struggles to describe it.
1976 German pressing on BASF and it’s absolutely fantastic.
