Like a majority of progressive rock bands in the 1980s, Grobschnitt is struggle with where to take their sound. Illegal finds them embracing some of those early 80s aesthetics with varying degrees of success. The album still has its moments, and when it’s on, it’s on! It’s just not as consistent as it should be. Not crucial, unless you are a big Grobschnitt fan (which I am).
