This album is a project of Ivar Bjørnson of Enslaved and Einar Selvik of Wardruna. While I’m a huge fan of Enslaved, I’m much less familiar with Selvik’s Wardruna, but I may have to dig into them at some point. The concept here is Norwegian history as told through ancient Scandinavian instruments and Norse poetry. All of this blended with metallic heaviness makes for an interesting and engaging listen. I had initially struggled with getting into this record, but have connected with it over time.
2016 French pressing on Season Of Mist and it’s quite nice.
