This is of course Rory Gallagher’s debut solo album and it pretty much picks right up from where things were at with Taste. Absolutely excellent, soulful, heavy blues rock. I’ve always sort of appreciated Gallagher’s playing, but have really been digging into his stuff in recent months. Soooo good. Features some lovely keys by the criminality under appreciated Vincent Crane and engineered by Eddie Offord to ensure the production is solid… which it is. A less bombastic cover concept by Hignosis as well, but perfectly fitting for this one.
1971 US pressing on Atco Records.
