After splitting in 1991 Death Angel renamed themselves The Organization and even released a couple of albums under that moniker before splitting and reforming as Swarm, releasing one EP in a more funk metal style. An almost complete original Death Angel reemerged in 2001 with all original members except for Gus Pepa, who was replaced by (now longtime) guitarist Ted Aguilar. The Art Of Dying is actually a badass return for the band, dropping a more refined yet still thrashing as fuck album that both retains the band’s original sound and still sounds current for 2004… Honestly, it was such a great period to witness the OG thrash bands coming back with trashing riffs and leads after the 90s sort of pulled much of that away.
2024 German reissue on Nuclear Blast and it’s pretty much excellent. With these reissues weren’t so fucking expensive, but this one had to be secured.
