Individual Thought Patterns is another landmark album from progressive death metal legends Death. Despite and ever shifting lineup, Chuck Schuldiner always managed to assemble insanely strong players with exciting outcomes. Steve DiGiorgio remains and provides some mind bending fretless bass that weaves in and out of Gene Hoglan’s monstrous drumming. Joining Schuldiner on guitar is Andy LaRocque of King Diamond’s solo band and these fellas can deliver! Amazing album.
2020 US/EU reissue from Relapse Records and it’s very nice. Glad the “pinwheel” vinyl variant thing has settled a little bit. Some of these (this one included) seem kind of dumb and don’t really jive with the artwork or anything, in my humble opinion. Black is always going to be my preference, babe.
