Fireballet were an American symphonic prog band formed in 1971 that released just two albums during their run. Night On Bald Mountain is their debut and is very much in the feel of English symphonic prog at the time. Much keyboards, stories of royalty and castles, all the good shit. And of course most of the second side is a working through of Mussorgsky‘s “Night On Bald Mountain” suite. While a bit poncy at times, the album is honestly really fucking good. Produced by Ian McDonald of King Crimson and countless appearances on many killer albums, including this one! Semi-obscure album in the sense that it never gained much popularity, but copies can still be had at a good price.
1975 US pressing on Passport Records.
