Sepultura - Nation (2001)

Nation is the band’s second release following their split with Max Cavalera and this may be one of the most dunked on albums in their discography. While I concede that this one gets a bit long in the tooth, I don’t think it’s the shit show that it’s made out to be. What exactly was people’s expectations for Sepultura at this point? Honestly, did people just want them to disband? The album sort of finds them experimenting with their sound as they re-establish their direction. While not among the band’s best, there is still some interesting work going on here. Igor Cavalera’s percussive playing here is worth the price of admission.

2021 European pressing from BMG as part of the Sepulnation box set.
