Vhöl was formed in 2012 as a side project featuring John Corbett and Sigrid Sheie of Hammere Of Misfortune, Aesop Dekker of Agolloch, and Mike Scheidt of Yob. The band is probably closest to Hammers Of Misfortune in overall sound and compositions, but Scheidt’s vocals add an entirely different dimension and Dekker’s drums really bring it all fucking home. The band is sort of black metal aligned in general approach, but carry a psychedelic, sludgy SFO/PNW vibe that’s hard to describe, but easy to recognize when you hear it. This is the first of two full length albums the band released, and it’s fucking tits.
