Ozzy Osbourne - Speak Of The Devil (1982)

My understanding was that Speak Of The Devil was a bit of a response to rumors of an impending Black Sabbath live album (Live Evil) and the folks in Ozzy’s camp felt they needed to rush a double live album to market beforehand, despite the chaotic state of Ozzy’s solo band. While they managed to put together a decent sounding 2xLP live album, it’s a little bizarre that it’s made up entirely of Black Sabbath tracks. The lineup of prior albums are gone and this live band features Rudi Sarzo on bass, Tommy Aldridge on drums, and Brad Gillis of Night ranger on guitar. Gillis gets a lot of shit for this album, but while he is no Tony Iommi, he’s pretty fast and loose here and that’s admirable in and of itself. I don’t exactly love this album, but it’s pretty fucking cool.
