Screams And Whispers is more or less where Anacrusis arrives at what one could have considered their first evolutionary cycle. Fully formed ideas, strong compositions match with confident playing and a superbly produced album. Sadly, this is also their last as they split up in 1993 and despite a couple of short lived reunions, never recorded/released new maternal after this. They certainly ended things in a high note as this LP is where it’s at! Recommend if you are interested in progressive metal, thrash, or just music that gives no shits about genre expectations.
Damn, 1993 really is starting to feel like last call for the most of the original thrash metal movement as bands were either folding or radically changing their sound to navigate the weird musical landscape of the era.
2019 US/EU reissue on Metal Blade Records. All of my Anacrusis vinyl pressing except Reason are from this series and they are really well done.
