There is a lot to unpack about the recording sessions that eventually led to The Suite. Basically, The Suite was worked out back in 1983-74 and Analogy indeed was playing this live before they ultimately folded in 1974. Guitarist/composer Martin Thune and vocalist Jutta Nienhaus went on to collaborate with Italian icon Franco Battiato and both appear on the album Sulle Corde Di Aries and even formed a London-based band called Earthbound. Eventually, Thune and Nienhaus reconvened and recorded The Suite in 1980 and with me leaving out a bunch of details, these recordings eventually saw a CD release in 1993, and an official vinyl release in 2015 (this). I feel like I haven’t really gotten into how good this actually is, but this is a dumb blog. Check it out yourself.
2015 German pressing on Ohrwashi Records and it is fantastic. Landed this brand new at Amoeba Music in San Francisco for like $10 back in November and shocked at how fucking great this is.
