Unsurprisingly, Pinnacles sounds very similar to albums and soundtracks released by Tangerine Dream during this same period. It reminds me a lot of White Eagle, and honestly that’s not a bad thing by any measure. Sequenced beats, omnipresent waves of interwoven keyboards, and subtle, yet massively effective guitar work by Frose that simply makes it all work. Maybe not the most crucial release from Froese’s solo discography, but I do recommend if you’ve already enjoyed his work worh both Tangerine Dream and solo output up to this point. Much to dig.
1983 UK pressing on Virgin. I recently picked this copy up in Amsterdam on the cheap and I’m pretty happy about it.
