Pentagram - Lightning In A Bottle (2025)

Ten years after Pentagram’s surprisingly solid Curious Volume, Bobby Liebling has assembled an all new lineup and released Lightning In A Bottle. The songs are alright, but Liebling does not sound good. His voice has a warbling sound that highlights his instability as a singer and sort of drags the otherwise decent tunes down into the shitter. New to the band guitarist Tony Reed turns in a commendable performance, as does former Saint Vitus drummer Henry Vasquez, but this record is the musical equivalent of reheated coffee. Happy to have this, but I don’t see myself giving it a lot of action.

2025 Italian pressing from Heavy Psych Sounds. I held off on this due to the bananas pricing of this in the US, but found it lightly used in Paris for like 21€ which seems a whole lot more reasonable. Nice release, even if the album itself is a little meh.
