While The Yes Album was a breakthrough in its own right, Fragile truly launched the band on the trajectory towards being the monumental progressive rock icons they became. With Howe now fully integrated, the band also brings in keyboard wizard and massively talented Rick Wakeman who help the band fully realize their vision of symphonic prog. Fragile is also a masterwork, seeming upleveled on all fronts. The songcraft is flawless, Eddie Offord’s production is superb, and the beginning of Yes albums to feature the glorious artwork of Roger Dean begins here. Essential for any music collection.
Side note: When I started leveraging this blog as a journal at the start of 2024, I was already in the middle of a run through of my Yes albums, and started here with Close To The Edge and went from there. These first four Yes albums is me closing the loop, hah.
1972 US pressing on Atlantic Records and it sounds very good.
